Ashwani Sahijpaul was born and raised in Punjab, India, where he mastered his craft in traditional Indian cuisines and hospitality. After the passing of his father, Ashwani had the duty to support his five siblings and mother despite facing hardship and obstacles. As more responsibilities grew, Ashwani decided to immigrate to Canada and find work at a restaurant to send money back home to his family. Soon after, Ashwani returned to his home country to marry Vijayluxmi. In 2000, Ashwani returned to Canada with the support of his wife, mother, and sister. Together, Ashwani and Vijayluxmi worked towards taking a big step in their journey – establishing their very own restaurant. In 2002, the first Rajdhani Sweets & Restaurant branch opened on Albion and Islington Avenue. From that point on, Ashwani has handled all the cooking and sweet preparations while Vijayluxmi manages the flow and overall management of the business. Over time, Rajdhani Sweets & Restaurant has opened and will continue to open multiple franchise locations, serving customers the best service and quality food they deserve. As time has passed, Ashwani and Vijayluxmi continue to operate the business with love, hard work, teamwork, and dedication.
